Our Bags Are Packed!

The WorkWhileWalking editorial team is looking forward to cruising this year’s NeoCon trade show looking for all the cool new active office furniture and ergonomic accessories that are being introduced. Many of our readers have never even heard of this show (and to dispense with the most common questions we get about it, no, it has nothing to do with Republican politics), so we thought we’d share a little bit of background about it here.

About NeoCon

The National Exposition of Contract Furnishings (NeoCon) is the largest trade show for commercial interiors in North America. Over the course of three days, more than 50,000 design professionals will gather in The Merchandise Mart in Chicago to connect with each other and share the newest innovations in office design. It’s a great place to acquaint ourselves with the latest products and the newest companies, as well as several keynotes and presentations from prominent industry leaders. For its part, The Merchandise Mart is one of the largest buildings in the country. With twenty-five floors and four million square feet it’s an impressively large stage for one of the biggest events in commercial design. We’re fortunate to have as much walking experience as we have!

An Office Furniture Smörgåsbord

More than just an excuse for us to geek out at the latest and greatest in office fitness products, NeoCon is the perfect opportunity to learn about what’s on the horizon for active and ergonomic offices. We get a chance to preview cutting edge products from mainstay companies like Ergotron, Humanscale, Innovative Products, LifeSpan, iMovR, and StirDesk, as well as from rising stars in the industry. You can think of it as a road map for the coming year: What’s unveiled at NeoCon today can be found in offices tomorrow. It’s certainly a first look at the product reviews we’ll be churning out over the coming months.

Of course, there will certainly be some measure of geeking out.
