The Stand Steady Original Standing Desk Converter costs $84.99 and is basically a small, simple table that you place on your desktop. It can manually adjust from 12″ to 18″ in 1″ increments, but you’ll have to take everything off the work surface to make the adjustment.
The desktop surface is simple particleboard and comes only in black. The frame is powder-coated steel. The desktop surface is 23.5″ x 20″. It needs 15″ x 16″ of desktop space.
Assembly should be very fast. You lay the desktop surface face down, then attach the five screws and washers to fix the frame to the desktop. Then you set your height by adjusting each leg manually.
The huge disadvantage is that you have to move everything back and forth from your desk to the converter every time you sit or stand because it does not lower and you’ll have to take it off your desk to work at a sitting position.
Stand Steady offers free shipping to the lower 48 US states as well as a one-year warranty, which is much shorter than most major ergonomic furniture manufacturers.
