iMovR EverMat Portable Standing Desk Mat Review

iMovR’s famous quality at a reduced price? Sounds attractive, yet improbable. But where many competitors failed, iMovR has succeeded. They’ve managed to create a 100% polyurethane portable standing desk mat with nearly the exact formulation of their elite Ecolast series, and cut the cost by about a quarter. iMovR’s EverMat Portable Standing Mat is an excellent contender for those looking for a budget standing solution—be it for their office, commercial space, or an industrial environment.

Like the EcoLast series, the EverMat line stays true to a solid 100% polyurethane construction, which means the mats are 99.99% anti-microbial and heat resistant (up to 400 °F). Most other specs are the same, including ¾” thickness and 20-degree beveled edges. However, the smaller EverMat (18″ x 24″) is two inches wider than the EcoLast (18″ x 22″). The EverMat Portable comes in a larger 24″ x 36″ version as well, which gives it a slight edge over the EcoLast in sizing options, but its color options are more limited (black only).

A distinguishing feature of the EverMat Portable Mat is its ergonomic handle. It isn’t flat like the EcoLast mats’ but is shaped to fit your fingers. Not only is it useful for carrying, but you can also use the handle to hang the mat on a hook to get it out of the way when it’s not in use.

The EcoLast’s exacting formulation is a tough one to match. Polyurethane material is expensive, and if a manufacturer decides to skimp on it, a mat will sink and bottom out, showing lingering footprints and slight indents (as you’ll often find in non-flat standing mats). The EverMat mat is almost as dense and buoyant as the iMovR EcoLast Portable Mat, though the latter has better travel control (a mat’s tendency to slip and move around on the floor).

We’ve tested the EverMat mat with and without shoes, and it fits the bill for comfort and support. It isn’t too squishy and has enough buoyancy to support your weight, though it doesn’t spring underfoot quite as much as the EcoLast. If you prefer firmer mats, this is the one to buy. It will only set you back $49.95 for the 18” x 24” version and $59.95 for the 24” x 36”.

The Takeaway

The EverMat mat combines iMovR’s famous EcoLast premium quality with a budget price. This portable standing mat may have less spring in its single-piece molded polyurethane body, but it gives you slightly more standing real estate and a bonus choice in size. Sharing most of the specs of its American-made iMovR counterpart, the EverMat is a solid budget standing desk mat that you can share with a co-worker, take with you to a standing meeting, or even use as a seat pad at a ball game.
