Bottom Line
Review
Though a lot of us are working in offices at our sitting or standing desks (or sit-stand desk converters), a significant number of people still work behind counters, conveyer belts, and gas stoves, experiencing not only the discomfort from standing on hard floors but also a slew of health consequences associated with standing. And while the needs of an office worker can be met with a relatively small polyurethane anti-fatigue mat that doesn’t extend beyond the real estate of a desk, commercial environments require something more sizeable to outfit larger surfaces and accommodate more people. With most commercial grade mats rarely exceeding 3-3.5 feet in length, you have to do a lot of cutting and gluing if you want to cushion a bigger area—not only is this inefficient, it also voids the warranty on those mats and creates potential tripping hazards at the seams.
iMovR EcoLast Continuum Standing Mat, a big brother to the EcoLast Premium Standing Mat, comes in a variety of sizes that could potentially solve that problem. Available in a combination of 20”, 24”, and 36” depths and lengths between 7.5’ and 23′, it can definitely find its place behind a pharmacy counter, a production line, or even a conference table. Additionally, flame resistance up to 400°F and an anti-microbial surface render it suitable for food, medical, manufacturing, or any other industrial work areas.
iMovR Continuum Standing Mat Comes in 15 Different Sizes
When it comes to comfort, Continuum does not compromise on material or density. Featuring ¾” thick 100% polyurethane construction, it relieves pressure in your feet, calves, and lower back just like it should. Through testing and research, we found that ¾” thickness provides just the right amount of cushioning, and according to a study by the Health Science Center at Texas A&M University, only a 100% polyurethane standing mat is able to reduce spine compression by as much as 40%.
Safety-wise, the Continuum has the High Traction Certification—it’s been tested in accordance with ANSI/NFSI B101.1-2009 or NFSI B101-B method using the BOT-3000, as well as ADA-compliant 20-degree beveled edges that reduce the risk of tripping. In addition, it bears a seal of approval from the American Podiatric Medical Association.
Just like EcoLast Premium, the Continuum was manufactured in the USA and comes with a lifetime warranty against defects and an impressive 10-year full performance warranty that guarantees the mat will not curl, delaminate, compress, or wear through. We tested it with hard-heeled dress shoes, caster-wheel chairs, and sharp office supplies—the mat holds its form well beyond normal wear and tear. As with any consumer product, quality usually translates into sustainability, so if you are looking for an environmentally-responsible product, the Continuum fits the bill perfectly with its long life cycle and 100% recyclable material.
While black never goes out of style, the Continuum could use a few more colors, considering how many options there are in the Premium line. Visible seams at the point where two or more different mat pieces are attached don’t add much to the mat’s aesthetic either. Then again, if you value function over looks, this is the only option on the market that offers such tremendous quality in such an array of sizes.
The Takeaway
iMovR is taking worker comfort into new territory with the EcoLast Continuum Standing Mat. These extra-long mats are perfect for the laboratory, production line, or behind the counter. With 15 non-standard sizing options, you no longer have to cut and glue smaller mats together to cover your floor space. Quality construction ensures safety against tripping hazards (like flimsy DIY-glued seams) and a full performance warranty guarantees the mat will never delaminate, curl at the edges, compress, or wear through, and will always lie flat. Finally, a seamless solution for those long, narrow surfaces.
