Corner Desk or Small L-Shaped Desk?
When standing desks first started appearing online en masse they were pretty much all rectangular affairs. Cubicle denizens and those who wanted to have a standing desk placed into a corner didn’t have too many options. Nowadays all that has changed, and there are now so many options that we had to actually break this category up into two subcategories: corner standing desks and L-shaped standing desks.
You might be wondering “what’s the difference between a corner desk and an L-desk?” While it’s true that a corner desk can be called a small L-shaped desk, this is another one of those situations where some standing desk purveyors intermix the two labels, adding to the confusion. To be clear, here are the differences:
- Corner standing desks may have two or three lifting legs but are distinguished from L-shaped desks because they are always built with a single desktop. Most corner desks are also symmetrical in dimension, so a 47″x47″ desk would measure 47″ along each wall. The exception is a “pork chop” design that has one side longer than the other, but still made out of a single plank of wood. Corner standing desks are generally less expensive than full-fledged L-desks and may be a great option for those searching for a small L-shaped desk because of space restrictions.
- L-shaped standing desks will always have three lifting legs, and always be constructed with two desktops mounted perpendicular to each other. L-desks are generally larger than corner desks, and allow for much more flexibility in terms of having the exact length you need against one wall versus the other. They also cost a lot more due to the fact that there are three legs instead of two and two desktop slabs instead of one. They weigh more, cost more to ship, and are generally (with the exception of iMovR’s Lander L-desk) much harder to assemble.
So in this round-up, we’re going to include all the corner standing desks that we’ve lab tested and reviewed. If it’s really a full-size L-desk that you’re looking for please see our comprehensive round-up of L-shaped Standing Desk Reviews. For cubicle denizens, if you’re looking to replace fixed-height countertops with an adjustable-height desk you’ll probably find the size you need in the L-desk category since most corner desks only reach as far as 65″ per wall versus up to 95″ with the best height-adjustable L-desks. For those looking for the utility of a small L-shaped desk with a smaller footprint and cheaper price, read on.
Unlike the L-shaped standing desk category where each manufacturer (UpLift, Jarvis and iMovR) offers multiple sizes and desktop surface options, in the corner category most vendors offer only one size, and very limited colors. The exception is iMovR which offers two desk lines—the Energize and Cascade—in a total of 24 desktop sizes, 22 colors of advanced Surf(x) 3D lamination, and three different base height ranges, for a total of well over a thousand color desk combinations. Chances are if one of the Energize or Cascade corner desks doesn’t work for your space and decor then nothing on the market will.
The most commonly asked about corner standing desks are those from UpLift, UpDesk and iMovR, though we will add more to this round-up as they appear on the market. 1. UpLift Curved Corner L-Shaped Sit-Stand Desk
Like all the other UpLift desk models, the Curved Corner unit is built atop a low-cost, Chinese made base. However, stability and lift capacity issues will be somewhat diminished in this desk rendition due to the fact that it incorporates three lifting columns instead of two. So although the base is a little less costly than a high-quality American-made standing desk base, you’ll in effect be paying 50% more for a third lifting leg.

2. Eureka Ergonomic E-60 L-Shaped Standing Desk for Corners
Most standing desks you can buy online these days are made in China, and they typically sit well below the quality and performance standards of the top-rated American made standing desks. Eureka Ergonomic products, while made in China, employ the highest quality designs and componentry. This is a company with 300-some engineers and state-of-the-art robotic production facilities.

Discontinued Standing Desks
At WorkWhileWalking we’ve been lab testing and writing reviews of ergonomic office furniture and accessories for over a decade. In that time, we have seen many of the products we reviewed fall by the wayside. This is inevitable due to the cycle of continuous improvement, with new models supplanting their predecessors. Of course in some cases products weren’t as competitive as they needed to be, or their manufacturers ran into financial challenges (which very much accelerated as a result of the post-pandemic economy).
For whatever reason, these products now fall into the discontinued category, but we will still keep their reviews published and available to read. Whether you want to know more about the desk, monitor arm, etc. that you bought years ago, need more info because someone is selling one second hand, or just want to compare current offerings with what was available in the past, these reviews will remain here for your reference.
