The ESI Lift is an upcoming desktop riser from ESI Ergonomic Solutions. It’s a two-tiered riser in the same style as the Varidesk and Ergotron’s WorkFit-T. The Lift made its debut at this year’s NeoCon trade show, and we got a chance to see it in action. We’ve asked ESI for a demo unit for lab testing, and we expect to be working on a full review before long. Until then, here are some quick facts about the Lift.

ESI Ergonomic Solutions is a small, woman-owned business based in Arizona that manufactures desktop risers like the Lift and its cousin the Climb, standing desks, adjustable monitor arms, and other ergonomic sit-to-stand office products. The 27-year old company has an established presence in the industry, and their clientele includes customers from the healthcare industry as well as typical office spaces. The Lift feautres a spacious keyboard platform suspended under a larger work surface meant to stand a laptop or monitor. This is attached to a pneumatic column that swings in an arc to bring the Lift up to height. The Lift uses a lever connected to the adjusting column with a Bowden cable, similar to the Winston Workstation. This “bicycle brake” system lets you set the height of the work surface anywhere along its range, something that the lever-locking systems of the WorkFit-T and VariDesk do not.

A new entry in ESI’s catalog, the Lift has just hit the market. We look forward to receiving a review unit in the future, and we’ll conduct a full laboratory test of its capabilities then.
